Amazon would be one of the main threats to bookstores as they can undercut the price of a bookstore as they don't have rent to pay on a high street store. The disadvantages is that this means the company os faceless and wouldn't offer great customer surface or nice atmospheric surroundings, the other problem is it doesn't sell independent books and you cant' browse and flick though potential purchases.
